The Political Terror Scale is a standards based measure of the level of states’ violations of personal integrity rights.  The measure ranges from 1-5, and is coded as seen below:

Each year we code the State Department, Amnesty International and the Human Rights Watch reports on Human Rights according to this coding scheme.

I have been a member of this project since 2013, as a research assistant and have been a Principle Investigator since 2015.

Data is usually released around August each year.
